Declan, a young hunter in old France, finally masters his father's ancient bow after years of patient training. While tracking her at night, he injures his leg and finds refuge in a forest cabin where a mysterious girl named Amaly tends to his wounds and teaches him about the forest's edible plants. When Declan later corners the white doe in the moonlight, he notices the striking resemblance between the deer's fur and Amaly's hair and realizes they are one and the same.
