Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Connecticut Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd. And folks, I'm not going to sugarcoat this. A historic blizzard is bearing down on Connecticut right now. And by tomorrow morning, you won't recognize your neighborhood.
Right now you're at 33 degrees under gray skies. Feels calm. Almost peaceful. That changes fast. Snow starts along the coast near 4 PM and spreads inland by evening. By dinnertime, winds are howling at 40 miles an hour. If you're not home yet, get there now.
Tonight is when this storm turns violent. Snowfall rates hit two to three inches per hour. Winds explode to 60 miles an hour. Visibility drops to zero. This is a textbook blizzard. And it will rage all night long.
