Episode 210: The Black Swan Murder

Ashley Byers met Douglas Benefield at an event and just 13 days later, the couple married. Doug was in his 50s, a widower, raising a teenage daughter on his own while Ashley was a ballerina and model. Their marriage deteriorated prior to the birth of the couple’s daughter, and they spent years on and off again. In September 2020, Ashley ran to a neighbors home in a panic asking them to call 911. She had shot Doug. She claims she killed him in self defense, critics argue it was cold blooded murder.
