According to police, a driver is dead after a cargo train collided with his car in Clayton on Monday morning. According to the Clayton Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Central Street and Main Street. North Carolina Operation Lifesaver is a nonprofit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and trespassing on or near railroad tracks.
