Mariam Araji is an activist, and advocate for domestic abuse particularly in war torn countries. She shares that women experiencing domestic abuse in Iraq don't have many options, they either stay put as the abuse increases or go to a prison where there are very small space set aside for victims or survivors - but there really haven't been any good options, just a consistent cycle of abuse at home, on the streets, or by police themselves.

Mariam is on the forefront of changing this for women worlwide, there is hope. As more women band together in many regions of the world, there are moves being made to bring some of the standards from other parts of the world for Iraqi women. The ask?
