We picked up about two-tenths of an inch of rain overnight. Currently sitting at 38 degrees under gray skies. But the real story? The mountains are getting absolutely buried.
Stevens Pass woke up under 8 inches of fresh snow. Another 6 to 8 inches falls today. That convergence zone along Highway 27 degrees is cranking out snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour this morning. Winter Storm Warning stays in effect until 5 A.M. Tuesday. Total accumulations through Tuesday morning: 15 to 27 inches.
The rest of the Cascades see lighter amounts today, but this is just the warm-up act. A Winter Storm Watch kicks in Tuesday night through Friday morning. We're talking 2 to 4 feet of new snow. The National Weather Service is even mentioning possible blizzard conditions Wednesday into Wednesday night.
