Lake Chad and The Headwaters Of the Nile

Warfare, Advancement, and Revisionism by Thomas Preston Floyd

Episode notes

This week we move to the peoples living around Lake Chad, the eastern Sahel, the southern Nile, and its tributaries between 6000-4000 BC(E) and the expansion of pastoralism and agriculture.

We also go over the idea of a macro Nilo-Saharan language and some of the pushback and criticism that got. We talk about the etymology of the Nile and Chari rivers.

Next week we will focus on specific sites sites seeing evidence of agriculture and pastoralism in the region.
