Good morning. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. That bright sunshine you're seeing right now? Don't let it fool you. A messy weather setup is bearing down on us today. In the next 24 hours. Here's what's happening. High pressure over the Great Lakes is shoving cold air down the Appalachians like a wedge. Meanwhile, moisture rides up and over that cold dome. When those two collide, you get wintry mess. Western Virginia sees it first. Mixed precipitation starts around 7 A.M. By midday, sleet becomes likely even as temperatures hit 38 degrees. Ridge tops could see a glaze of ice. Up to half an inch of snow and sleet possible. Tonight stays messy with rain and snow continuing. Lows dip to 35 degrees.
