Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Virginia Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th.
Folks, here's the deal. Western Virginia woke up and chose spring today. The rest of the state? Still thinking it over.
Out in the western mountains, you're looking at 61 degrees this afternoon. Sixty one. In February. A gentle west breeze at 3 to 7 miles an hour makes it feel like somebody left the door open to April. Perfect weather for a hike if you ask me.
Now drive east toward Richmond and Central Virginia. The thermometer drops to 45 degrees. A whisper of west wind at 3 miles an hour. Pleasant enough, but you'll want a light jacket.
Head all the way to Hampton Roads and you're sitting at 49 degrees. That northeast breeze off the water at 6 miles an hour adds a little bite. Not cold, just crisp enough to remind you it's still winter.
