Carrier claim or not, tankers are anchoring, embassies are pulling out, and Gulf states quietly admitting the war has reached their doorstep. Right, so Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has put out a statement claiming it fired four ballistic missiles at the USS Abraham Lincoln. Washington has not produced public proof either way that settles it, and that is the point of the move, because a carrier is not a building you can walk past and photograph, it is a floating system in managed space. A claim like that is designed to make everybody else move first, because the risk is not the hit, the risk is what the possibility of the hit does to everyone who depends on calm.
