Manson and his followers moved to Spahn Ranch in 1968. The rundown ranch served as a base for the group, offering them shelter and isolation from mainstream society. During their time at Spahn Ranch, Manson exerted control over his followers through manipulation and psychological conditioning. The remote location provided them with a sense of autonomy, allowing Manson to further indoctrinate his followers into his ideology of an impending apocalyptic race war, which he called "Helter Skelter." We are still heading further downhill from here folks. Watch the full video on our Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/TheGrimCurriculum We'd love to hear your thoughts on the episode! Charles Manson Part 1: A Tumultuous Childhood

    Explicit

We are starting our 100th Episode with our series on infamous cult leader, Charles Manson. He gained notoriety in the late 1960s for his role in orchestrating a series of brutal murders, including the Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969, carried out by his followers, who were known as the "Manson Family." In part one we focus on Manson's childhood and his incredibly rough upbringing. His early years were characterized by neglect and poverty. His teenage mother struggled with alcoholism and frequently left Manson in the care of relatives or in foster homes. He bounced around between various relatives and institutions, experiencing neglect, abuse, and feelings of abandonment. His troubled upbringing is often cited as a contributing factor to the development of his later criminal behavior and manipulative personality. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the episode!
