Folks, if you stepped outside today and thought spring was knocking. That was a prank. Right now we're sitting at 41 degrees under clear skies. Eleven degrees above normal for late February. Soak that in for about five more minutes. Because a cold front is barreling across the state as we speak.
In the next 24 hours. Scattered snow showers are already hitting the mountains and Aroostook County. but the snow isn't the headline. The Arctic air riding behind this front is the real villain. Tonight, temperatures nosedive. Portland drops to 25 degrees. Augusta falls to 21. Push north to Bangor and you're looking at 17. Up in the mountains? Eleven degrees. That's a 30 degrees crash from this afternoon's high.
