Kakashi’s story is a story of pain, loss, and finding yourself once again. You see, Kakashi, from a very young age, understood the cost of war, of honor, and failure. He was once an idealistic young boy who faced the harsh reality of dishonor that culminated in the loss of his father. This scarred him, and he carried these scars with him well into his time as a Genin, into his time as a member of Team Minato, and ultimately, until the loss of his friends Obito and Rin. These two deaths (Well… one death) only compounded upon him. He lost track of the meaning and value of life, which led him down a very dark path as a member of the Anbu, down a route of desensitization in an unhealthy way of coping.
