Episode notes
Tonight, we step quietly into the eastern wards of Chang'an, nearly 1,300 years ago, in the height of the Tang Dynasty.
In this quiet sleep story, a young literary assistant lies awake in Chang'an before first light, her mind still turning through the work she has left behind at the Pei household. When the ward gates open at dawn, she sets out for a mountain nunnery south of the city.
A place she and her mother visited since she was small where an elderly nun and the steady sound of the temple bell carry her back to herself. Through the afternoon walk beside a pine-shaded stream, the quiet evening meal, and the deep sleep that follows, the mountain returns something she had forgotten.
Settle in, relax, and drift gently into sleep. đ´
