Episode notes

Tonight, we step quietly into a small mountain nunnery deep in the Zhongnan Mountains, south of Chang'an, nearly 1,300 years ago, in the height of the Tang Dynasty. In this gentle sleep story, a senior nun rises before dawn at a small mountain nunnery deep in the Zhongnan Mountains, south of Chang'an. The spring mist pressing thick between the pine trees and the compound walls still in the dark. She lights a single candle on the altar shelf, places one stick of incense, and settles onto her meditation mat as the muyu's quiet tock rises once into the cedar-scented air. As the mist brightens slowly toward gold and the pine trees reappear one by one, the candle flame rests without wavering above its own reflection in the bowl of clear water below.

Settle in, relax, and drift gently into sleep. 😴
