We continued our study of the Holy Spirit. We took a moment to unpack the definition of the word Spirit and how it directly relates to our existence and the creative power that follows the Spirit of God wherever it goes.
The Old Testament was almost entirely written in Hebrew. Some parts in Aramaic.
- Hebrew word for Spirit - Ruach: breath, wind, spirit.
- Hebrew word for Sacred/Holy - Kodesh
The New Testament was written in Greek, which was the common language at the time.
- Greek word for Spirit - Pneuma
- This is where we get our English words - Pneumatic, pneumonia.
In Genesis 1:2 we read that the Spirit hovered over the waters and this was the precursor to all of creation being created. In the Gospels we read how the Spirit overshadowed Mary and life was created in her and in time s ...
