In 2 Chronicles 10 Rehoboam becomes King of Judah. For someone who had for a father the wisest man on Earth, it seemed to do him no good. Rehoboam’s shocking lack of wisdom destroys a kingdom in three days, which has been preserved for 40 years by wisdom.

Solomon’s wisdom of course came from the Lord, but Rehoboam didn’t seek wisdom as his father did. Secondly, Rehoboam listened to the voice of inexperience. He didn’t value wisdom, and it didn’t value him in return. Rehoboam was 41 years old when he became king according to the 1Kings 12 account and was thus born when his Dad was possibly 13 years of age.

This makes sense if Solomon became co-regent king at 11, and married at 13 when he was considered a man. His mother was not  ...
