In 1 Chronicles 13 we observe that there are different types of people - those that want to improve things their own way apart from God, those that want to do things for God, but make assumptions, as David did in this chapter, and those who seek the Lord.

In this chapter David tries to bring the ark into Jerusalem but without knowing what God requires. HIs failure gives him the fear of the Lord, leading to seeking God all the more.

His failure leaves the ark in the house of Obed Edom - a gittite. The Gittites were Philistines, from the city of Gath - so now the ark is being cared for by a Philistine for the second time in the Bible, and this video compares the two occasions.
