Episode notes
In this video listen to 2 Kings Chapter 18, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.
In 2 Kings Chapter 18 we meet Hezekiah, the 13th monarch and 12th king of Judah. He doesn’t just follow the Lord, he trusts the Lord. This is why he breaks with paying tribute to Assyria. The Assyrians seem to have been forcing Ahaz (his Dad) to pay tribute and along with that worship their gods. So to break with one thing (the idolatry) for the sake of God, he breaks with the tribute too, and his trust is entirely in the Lord.
This results in an incredible deliverance for Jerusalem, although not for all the cities of Judah. We discuss some of the politics of the time, and the incredibly risky, and yet profoundly safe move Hezekiah takes for the Lord.
