Episode notes
An epic change has occurred in Jewish-Christian relations since the Holocaust. The predominant churches in Germany at the time—Catholic and Lutheran—were deeply shaken by the tragic murder of 6 million Jews knowing they had done little to stop it. Other mainline denominations followed suit. While they all renounced antisemitism, they did not embrace the newborn state of Israel. The Evangelical movement, however, is the fastest growing segment of Christianity today and has a profoundly different approach. Millions of these Bible-based churches around the world are now both philosemitic and pro-Israel.
