The Piedmont wakes up to patchy fog until about 10 A.M., then sunshine fights its way out. You’re looking at a high of 79 degrees — that’s 32 degrees warmer than usual for early March. Southwest winds pick up, gusting to 21 miles an hour. You might see a stray thunderstorm late today, but the real action waits until tonight.
