Season 2 #6- This episode concentrates on the long-held tradition of the Kindermasken Parade and Ball. We here from Lucille Rust on Reflections #33 hosted by C. Herb Skoog with Fred Oheim on 05/04/1977. In a second part we here from Bobbie Purdum, Linda Dietert, Kay Specht, and Delores Patterson hosted by Roxolin Krueger on 03/06/2000. I am informally calling this one "stars for an evening." This thumbnail comes from a book available at the Museum's "Sophie's Shop" called Kindermaskenball: Past and Present by Rosemarie Leissner Gregory and Myra Lee Adams Goff. (pg. 33)
S2 Episode 5- The first part of this episode includes an interview of Stella Scholl Platz on 7/27/1976 by C. Herb Skoog and Fred Oheim. The second part of this episode includes an interview of Franziska Dittlinger Liebscher on 3/13/1977 by C. Herb Skoog and Fred Oheim. They both talk about the early years of the 20th century. The story that connects them in the brief stop of Theodore Roosevelt in New Braunfels. Both ladies were there for an unannounced train stop of the President. Roosevelt was serenaded, poems were read and his body guards for the day were the "Jolly Rough Riders."
S2 Episode #4- Millie Karbach is interviewed by C. Herb Skoog (with Fred Oheim) on 02/24/1977 for Reflections #0023. She describes part of the arduous journey that her relatives endured to reach New Braunfels and an interesting story about her father and the US Civil War. I am informally calling this one "A dancing Yankee horse."
Season2 episode #3- Herb Skoog interviewed by Roxolyn Krueger on 8/11/2016 for Reflections #2249. Herb describes his background in radio and how he made his way to New Braunfels. He is the originator of the Reflections programs in 1976 which include more than 1500 oral history recordings (he hosted more than half of them). We lost C. Herb Skoog recently. He was incredibly significant and important to the New Braunfels community. He will be sorely missed. I am calling this one (ironically) "I'm so nervous, I don't know if I can do this."
Season 2 #2- Celebrating Black History Month. This episode contains an excerpt from Reflections #14 where Ruth Hunter Harper is interviewed by C. Herb Skoog with Fred Oheim on 8/13/76. I am informally calling this one ". . . and yet, I say I am not bitter.”
