Hello Everyone! Welcome to episode five of Maya's Music Motive! Can you believe that I'm back already? My lack of sleep after recording and editing in the same day would confirm this to be true! I'm excited to have my very special guest, Brandi Stevens, return to the show! Brandi is a director, writer, and works in film production in Atlanta, GA. She is a recent graduate of the University of Miami, but I have the pleasure of knowing her as my best friend! We received so much positive feedback after the last episode that we thought we would double up our hosting duties. If you listened to episode four, then you know my surprise was creating a part two for the music and film topic. So, Episode Five will cover the world of music on television, highlighting our favorite soundtracks, compilations, and music supervisors that had the great responsibility of creating the audible narrative to our favorite shows. Join us as as we unpack the shows, whose music tweaked our emotions towards polarizing characters, and continue to unpack the creative process of combining visuals with sound. And of course, some fun banter alongside it! Thank you a million for listening! Please, continue sharing with your friends and don't forget to subscribe, follow, & rate the show! Stay Groovy Always! Hello Everyone! I hope you all are continuing to stay safe and healthy! Welcome to episode three of Maya's Music Motive and I can't believe I have gotten this far already. I want to start once again by thanking everyone that is listening and sharing the show, and I never imagined my little capstone project would escalate to being played in 11 states and 8 countries so far. This is just the beginning and I can't wait to share with you all the exciting things I have planned for Motive. I am so excited to welcome my second guest, Spencer Haines, to the show! Spencer is an undergraduate student at Syracuse University's Bandier Program for the recorded music and entertainment industries. Outside of the school he works in production (with incredible credits in podcast production), developing a career in music management, and most important is an avid hyperpop enthusiast. We had the fun assignment of recording this episode for our Radio Phoenix class, and I am so grateful to get to know him better through this process! Please follow Spencer on all social media and let him know how dope he is! Episode Three will cover the latest trending microgenre that almost entirely thrives on close-knit internet communities. Hyperpop came to be in the mid-2010s, but is already developing into a global phenomenon in response to a surge of creativity during the COVID-19 lockdown. Join Spencer and me as we explain what the hell these teenagers are doing on Discord, share some songs by hyperpop artists, and unpack the future of this genre's relationship with the music industry. Brief disclaimer I had to edit the show a but to erase the copyrighted music I originally added for a school project. So, that's why the topic may switch up mid-show! Thank you a million for listening! Please, keep sharing with your friends and don't forget to subscribe/follow/rate the show! Stay Groovy Always! Hello everyone! Welcome to the 2nd episode of Maya's Music Motive! First, thank you so much for all the love and support towards MMM's debut. It is so heartwarming to know how many people support me as not just a show creator, but also as a young woman shedding light on her biggest passion. I am forever grateful for the continuous love of the Motive! Alright, now that I have my mushy part out the way let me introduce the show's first official guest! Nicholas Peta is a creative triple threat, working in photography, music, and creative directing/marketing from Syracuse, NY. I had the honor of working with him on the show's launch visuals, along with several other projects, and I am so honored to have him on the show. Please follow Nick on all social media to share how incredible his point of view was on this topic! Episode Two will cover music videos' impact on the industry, after the altering rise of MTV and the Video Music Awards in the eighties. Nick and I also spend time discussing our favorite music videos/moments from the VMAS over the years, along with explaining why we continue to celebrate visual interpretations of music as time (and media consumption) progress. Thank you a million for listening! Please, keep sharing with your friends and don't forget to subscribe/follow/rate the show! Stay Groovy Always! Hello everyone!! Welcome to the debut episode of Maya's Music Motive! This show is hosted by yours truly aka Maya Abrams, and this episode will include a general introduction of myself and the podcast's overarching orientation and goals. I also shed some light on how the show will generally flow followed by the general 'Motive' system. *PSA forgive any awkward wording or pauses I promise I will improve!* Our first Motive for the podcast features one of the biggest entertainers to hit everyone's airwaves in recent years, Lil Nas X! I take some time to highlight his career so far, the recent success with album release, Montero, and how he's already laying the foundation for a permanent change of how black/brown LGBTQ+ artists are celebrated in mainstream hip-hop & pop music. I am so excited to finally share this with the world and thank you so much for listening. If you enjoy, please share with your friends! Stay Groovy Always!
