In this episode of the LusoCanada Podcast, Paulo Pereira visits Casa das Beiras of Toronto for a conversation with Bernardino Nascimento, one of the organization’s founders and longtime community leaders.

Bernardino reflects on his arrival in Toronto in 1972, his early involvement in Portuguese community football, the founding of Os Viriatos in 1977, and the creation of Clube Académico de Viseu of Toronto in 1989. The conversation follows the organization’s transformation into Casa das Beiras in 2000, its cultural work through folklore and the Semana Cultural Beirã, the purchase of its first community building near Caledonia and St. Clair, and its more recent move to Ronald Avenue.
