The first day, we chant the name of Durga as Shailaputri- She who is the daughter of the Mountains- You can avail of the energies of the mantra by sitting in a quiet space allowing for 15 minutes of no interruptions, close your eyes and watch your breath as you listen to the mantra. You may visualize her at the 3rd -eye chakra or the middle of the forehead while you listen to the mantra while mentally offering her flowers, incense, lamp, sweets, clothing etc. as a sign of your devotion.
