Paul opens his letter to the young pastor Titus with a curious phrase. He refers to God as one "who does not lie". This truth is important for us all to know. After all, how can we trust God's promises unless we trust that God is not lying to us? Crete, where Titus was, had a culture that apparently thrived on dishonesty. For them and for us, God's honesty not only comforts, but challenges us to be honest as well.
