As the Pharisees call the blind man in for a second round of questioning, one thing becomes clear -- that anything but the truth sets a disastrous course. The Pharisees continue to press for an outcome that requires denying the truth about who Jesus truly is. The healed man only makes matters worse when he offers not only the truth, but verbal jabs as well. Earlier, Jesus had said that the truth would set us free. Here we see that anything less or more only sets us on a course for disaster.
