🧩 Step 9 — Making Direct Amends
Step 9: “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.” Scripture: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” — Luke 6:31 (NIV)
Reflection
Step Nine turns willingness into action. After inventory and confession have softened our hearts, this step invites us into relational repair—not to relieve our guilt, but to restore integrity. We discuss how amends are not the same as reconciliation and not a demand for forgiveness. Instead, they reflect humility, respect for boundaries, and trust that God will guide the outcome. Serenity grows when we take responsibility while also discerning when direct amends might cause harm.
