In this episode, I talk about masculinity, femininity, and what those words actually mean based on the life I grew up living. I was raised in the bush of Alaska by an extremely masculine man, in a world with almost no feminine presence, and that gave me a very different understanding of the differences between men and women.
I explain why I don’t believe in terms like toxic masculinity or toxic femininity, and why I think there are simply toxic people, not gender specific toxic traits. I also talk about how skills like sewing, starting a fire, building, cooking, or creating art aren’t masculine or feminine at all, they’re just human skills some of which are necessary for survival and are skills everyone should know.
