In the first part of my conversation with Janique Johnson, a renowned TV presenter in Germany, we continue drifting naturally between personal stories, identity, beauty, family and laughter — exactly the way conversations tend to unfold when two people genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
Born in Washington, D.C. to an African-American father and a German mother, Janique moved to Germany at the age of five and grew up bilingually from the very beginning. Her mother made a conscious effort to establish both languages early on — something that would later make arriving and growing up in Germany much easier for her.
