They learned that there is an optional detour halfway through the journey that leads to a body of water. There was a scare when Pierre's raven, Symour, mysteriously cawed "danger" several times before disappearing into the mountains. The party crossed a fallen tree and Pierre, Gram, and Junia all almost died.
