2 Samuel 3:1 - 4:12

- David’s forces steadily grew stronger while Saul’s house weakened; Abner defected from Ish-Bosheth after a dispute and negotiated peace with David.

- Joab murdered Abner in revenge; David mourned him publicly and later Ish-Bosheth was assassinated, with David punishing the killers.

John 17:1-26

- Jesus prayed for his own glorification through the cross and for the Father to glorify him as he had completed his work on earth.

- He interceded for his disciples’ protection, sanctification in truth, and unity, extending the prayer to all future believers so the world would believe.
