Until 3 May, Niger was hosting around 417,000 refugees and asylum seekers, primarily from Nigeria (over 57%) and Mali (over 31%), with the remaining hailing from various other countries, including Burkina Faso, Chad, and Sudan.
Since 15 April 2023, clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group, have caused widespread displacement.
