This Is How We Win. With Jareb Gleckel | Ep. 49

What if I told you that some smart people came up with a viable strategy to end factory farming for good. A way to channel all our activism in the most impactful way. A roadmap telling you where this animal rights struggle ends. This master plan comes in the form of a legal article titled: A New Age of Animal Law, written by three animal rights lawyers: Jareb Gleckel, staff attorney for Animal Outlook, Grace Brosofsky, a public defender, and Cheryl Leahy, Director of Animal Outlook. I welcomed on the show one of the co-authors, Jareb. And we discussed the good and bad of animal welfare, before getting to the core of his paper. Then, I challenged him on some of the points and assumptions he makes. Veterinarians Are Not The Villains. With Dr. Heath, Dr. Zamzow & Dr. Gianni | Ep. 48

Two months ago, in Austin, Texas, the American Veterinary Medical Association held a convention where its House Delegates voted to codify ventilation shut down mass killings as part of its new Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics. Basically giving their blessing to Big Ag for killing hundreds of pigs or poultry at once by shutting off air supply and driving up temperatures, to cook them alive, to leave them agonizing for hours before dying from suffocation or organ failure. This, for representants of the veterinary profession, this was deemed not only tolerable but ethical. How can people who have been trained to heal animals, come to vote for this abominable practice? What is up with veterinarians? Debate: Can We Do Better? With Robert Cheeke, George Martin & An Pham | Ep. 47

I believe we all want to see a world where veganism is the norm. But, sadly, opportunities to explore critically our different perspectives and beliefs in reaching that goal are rare. So, for today, in the name of fostering critical thinking, I decided to gather three influential vegans to debate three important questions: What are the most and least effective ways to advance the vegan cause? Should we advocate for veganism or reducing animal products consumption? Should vegans exclusively lead the animal rights cause?
