Malta-based French Model Makenda recently spoke out about her adult ADHD diagnosis on social media, so host Trudy Kerr invited Makenda to come and share her story on The She Word Interview Special.
Approximately 2.6% (139.8 million) of adults worldwide have persistent ADHD from childhood, which includes individuals who experienced childhood onset paired with continued ADHD symptoms into adulthood. It is a biological condition, only 4.5 percent of those who are affected are diagnosed. You can't grow out of ADHD, it is about how you are wired. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , 12.9% of men and boys live with ADHD compared to 5.6% of women and girls. But women and girls may be affected more than these statistics suggest as females are much less likely to be diagnosed.
