Army Veteran SSG Claudette Esquerette was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As an inner-city teen to migrant Puerto Rican parents, she struggled to find her way. In 1994, SSG Esquerette enlisted in the US Army where she served as a mechanic and supply sergeant, completed three overseas tours, and was a vital part of the rescue and recovery effort following September 11th. SSG Esquerette shares her powerful story about overcoming breast cancer, combat injuries, retiring after 25 years of service, and the resulting PTSD. SSG Esquerette remains unbroken and turns life’s obstacles into triumphs.
