Welcome to the first episode of our mini audio series on sustainable production and consumption, where we’ll be focusing on the United Nations’ sustainable development goal number 12 and exploring the different approaches researchers in synthetic biology are taking to help us develop more sustainable patterns of consumption, and decrease our reliance on natural resources.

We’re joined by the vice president of research and development at Future Fields, Dr. Ela Dudek. She has a background in protein biochemistry from the Nencki Institute in Poland, and spent 10 years with the department of Biochemistry and Virology at the University of Alberta, where she worked on developing and commercializing a recombinant protein vaccine against Hepatitis C.
