Nipuna Jayasekera, (b. 1990) in Sri Lanka, developed an interest in art and music from a young age. When given a cricket bat as a child, he chose instead to play it as a guitar. During childhood in Sri Lanka, Nipuna often played with tuning dials on old radios, surfing the Am/Fm frequencies. Discovering the recording functions of subsequent hi-fi systems sparked a lifelong fascination with music, sound recording, and sampling. Years later, Nipuna attended art school in Melbourne, Australia, to study media arts, although he decided to drop out in the final year. Despite leaving a formal education in Fine Arts, his interest in Media Arts, especially working with found footage and editing, remained.
