There are human rights abuses occurring in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, also known as East Turkestan, or the western part of China. The Chinese government is accused of detaining a significant number of Uyghur Muslims and other ethnic minorities in what they term "re-education camps" or "vocational training centers." These camps reportedly involve forced labor, cultural assimilation efforts, and religious restrictions, among other violations.
