Proverbs E1: Wisdom, Worship, and the World of Proverbs

In this opening episode of our Proverbs series, we zoom out to explore the bigger picture of biblical wisdom literature. Before diving into individual proverbs, it's important to understand the three genres that shaped Israel's worship and worldview: priestly, prophetic, and wisdom traditions.

While priests focused on worship and covenant, and prophets delivered God’s word for specific moments in history, the wisdom tradition taught people how to live out their faith in the everyday—on the farm, in the home, in the marketplace, and in the courts. The Book of Proverbs is a key part of that tradition, rooted in the fear of the Lord and grounded in creation’s order.
