The Production Linked Incentive Schemes have been approved by the Government of India under the aegis of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to encourage domestic manufacturing, re-jig the global supply chain and make Indian a manufacturing hub of the world. The Scheme for Automotive and Automotive Components has recently been notified by the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
The Scheme focuses on OEMs engaged in the manufacture of Battery Electric Vehicles or BEVs and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles or HFCVs along with advanced components for all three categories of vehicles, viz., BEVs, HFCVs, and Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles. The focus on BEVs and HFCVs highlights India’s commitment to achieve carbon emission targets as set out under the Paris agreement.
