In this episode, we dive into the inspiring efforts of Southern Illinois University linebacker Chris Presto, who was named this week's Alex's Lemonade Stand Honorary Captain. Chris has raised over $1,000 in just a week, showing his deep commitment to making a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Alongside him is Steve Gross, Managing Partner at Northwestern Mutual St. Louis, whose company has partnered with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to fund more than 700,000 hours of research and donate over $60 million since 2012. This year’s challenge brings together 12 universities within the FCS Nation with a shared goal to raise over $250,000 for childhood cancer research and support. These players, like Chris, are influencing the next generation of philanthropic leaders, inspiring communities, businesses, and universities to rally behind their efforts. Through this partnership, families are not only receiving hope for new treatments but also vital support for travel and accommodations as their children undergo life-saving care. Chris and Steve’s passion shines through in this conversation, demonstrating how powerful the intersection of sports and philanthropy can be. Their collective efforts serve as a reminder that every action counts in the fight against childhood cancer, a disease that affects over 1,000 children daily and is the leading cause of death by disease in children ages 1 to 19 in the U.S., yet receives only 4% of federal funding. Chris, along with many others, is doing something about that!!!
