Welcome back for the second installment of Crying in the Book Club! Someone actually stuck around for episode 2, which we did not expect. For this episode, we discuss one of the most psychically damaging (positive) comics to Jean-Luc and Emily's "young" psyches, and a series Alex had never read before: Bryan Lee O'Malley's magnum opus Scott Pilgrim.
The conversation is pretty wide-ranging, from Alex's nostalgia for the Toronto depicted in the comic, to 16 year-old Jean-Luc's fantasies about literally becoming Scott Pilgrim, to the 2010 film adaptation directed by Edgar Wright. There's a lot to unpack here given the hosts' varied histories with the book.
Next, on Crying in the Book Club: The crew reconvenes for a double feature of Gotham by Gaslight and Batman of the Future, featuring one of the greatest villains in the Batman canon.
