It’s a quiet Sunday morning in Mbour — the kind of morning where the streets breathe slowly and the city feels half asleep. Johan and I set out in search of a proper bakery, only to discover that “bakery” here means one thing above all else: bread. We wander through a maze of baguettes, bicycles, and early risers hauling loaves across town, each bakery bursting with the scent of fresh dough but no sign of coffee.
Along the way, I find a street vendor with rows of thermoses offering hot, sugary Nescafé — simple, but welcome. The morning turns into a gentle exploration of the rhythms of local life: people working, resting, selling, and improvising.
