Living With Breast Cancer as a Young Woman

Breast Cancer Research by Bonnie Jerome-D'Emilia, Phd, MPH, RN.

Episode notes

In this podcast, I speak to two women who were diagnosed with breast cancer.

Oretta Thomas is an active member of the South Jersey Breast Cancer Coalition, and she was my community partner on a breast cancer grant. Oretta also lost her young daughter to breast cancer, so she understands what it is like to receive such a diagnosis when you are young.

The second women, S., was diagnosed in her early 30's. She was a participant in my research study and she has an impactful story to tell.

I am a faculty member at the Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden. I learned so much through this research experience, interviewing 30 women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I owe them all so much for educating me and helping me understand what they have gone through.
