Bethel Baptist Church | Making Disciples & Advancing the Gospel by Jason Dawson

Episode notes

Preaching Philippians 1 12 to 15, Pastor Marty Beamer shows how God advances the gospel through circumstances meant to stop it. From prison, Paul explains three striking ironies:

What’s meant to stop the mission actually advances it (v.12): chains become a trailblazing front line for the gospel. • What’s meant to undermine Christ ends up revealing him (v.13): the whole imperial guard sees Paul’s imprisonment is for Christ—a public witness to Jesus as King. • What’s meant to cause fear produces courage (v.14): believers grow confident in the Lord and speak the word without fear.

Rooted in God’s sovereignty and goodness, this message calls us to view suffering not as purposeless, but as God’s chosen means to make Christ known and embolden his people.
