Demonstrations against the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency have been growing, with one of the latest protests taking place in Raleigh last week. The outcry comes after Department of Education leaders announced plans to lay off more than 1,300 employees as part of a broader effort to cut the organization’s staff in half—a move seen as a prelude to President Donald Trump’s plan to dismantle the agency entirely.
In response to the protests, the North Carolina Republican Party issued a statement, criticizing Democrats for what they described as misplaced priorities, claiming that “fraud and abuse is what drives them to action.”
Sandy Joiner, Chairwoman of the Wake County GOP, joined Jeff Hamlin on Monday to discuss the party’s stance on the layoffs and the future of the Department of Education.
