Sin is not just doing bad things—it’s missing the mark of what we were created for. God designed humanity to reflect His glory, to live in fellowship with Him, and to order our lives according to His truth. But when we exchange His truth for lies and worship created things instead of the Creator, we cut ourselves off from the very source of life.
Paul’s description of sin in Romans 1 reveals how rebellion against God leads to broken thinking, distorted desires, and self-destruction. At the root of sin is ingratitude—refusing to honor or thank God. Yet even in exposing our sin, God’s purpose is mercy. He wounds us so that He might heal us through Christ, the One who took our sin upon Himself.
