Aaliyah always had hands like velvet and hustle like fire—twenty-two and finally taking over the town salon she grew up in. But between shop-floor shade, a busted-lip beef, and a building that creaks like it’s got secrets, the weather starts talking back. When a tropical swirl turns monster, an ex-con neighbor named Marvin shows up with plywood, a hammer, and a gentleness she didn’t see coming.

By candlelight and radio slow jams, they get cozy—stitching wounds, fixing fireplaces, and finding a softness in the middle of a Category 5. But storms don’t just rip roofs; they pull up roots. A fallen oak, a flooded living room, a jealous almost-something named D, and a salon that needs saving—love won’t be easy, but it might be worth rebuilding for.
