This week Jane tells us about Bill and Melanie McGuire. When Bill disappeared, Melanie didn’t report him missing because she claimed he left her after they had a fight. Later, his dismembered body turned up inside of suitcases. Melanie maintained her innocence but the jury didn’t believe her. Deklan tells us about Anneke Lucas, who as a young girl in Belgium was forced into a trafficking ring. Members high in the Belgian government as well as gang members participated in the trafficking ring of young children. Anneke survived horrifying things for years to tell her story. This week Deklan tells us about Belgian serial killer, Marc Dutroux. In the 1980s and 1990s he victimized numerous children and killed at least 5 people. Several of his victims he kept locked in a dungeon below his home. His crimes led to a sentence of life in prison. Jane tells us about the National park, Crater Lake. A beautiful lake in southern Oregon that was formed by a collapsed volcano nearly 8000 years ago. The lake has many stories of hauntings, other worldly spirits, cryptids, and UFOs. This week Deklan tells us about the strange plan to rob a bank. Brian Wells participated in a very complex bank heist that included him wearing a collar around his neck that he believed was a fake bomb. Unfortunately for Brian, the bomb was real and it exploded after the robbery killing him. The plan was later exposed to be very strange. Jane tells us about the history and uses of polygraphs, commonly called the “lie detector” tests. These tests are often used in criminal cases and also for some employment uses. This week Deklan tells us about orca training at Sea World in San Diego, CA. Sea World has been known for decades as a marine life zoo. Unfortunately keeping large marine animals in captivity and training them for spectator shows has led to a few deaths. Dawn Brancheau was an orca trainer who died tragically from an incident with an orca whale at Sea World. Jane tells us about Pascal Payet. A French man who orchestrated multiple prison breaks but these weren’t any run of the mill prison break. He managed to escape jail twice himself and planned another escape for friends using helicopters. We also enjoy the Frenchie cocktail. This week Jane tells us about a lesser known serial killer, Herb Baumeister. In the 1980s and 1990s dozens of gay men went missing. Some were found within a few months while others are still listed as missing. The remains of several of those men were found in the woods of a farm near Indianapolis, IN. The owner of the farm took his life to avoid the questions. Deklan tells us about the tragedy of the Hindenburg accident in 1937. After several successful trips across the Atlantic Ocean, there was a terrible accident that led to the deaths of nearly 40 people when the zeppelin crashed and caught fire.
